TWG Tea, the finest luxury tea brand in the world, was established in Singapore and celebrates the year 1837 when the island became a trading post for teas, spices and fine epicurean products. TWG Tea, which stands for The Wellbeing Group, was co-founded by Taha Bouqdib, Maranda Barnes and Rith Aum-Stievenard in 2008 as a luxury concept that incorporates unique and original retail outlets, exquisite tea rooms and an international distribution network to professionals.
The store/tea salon in England is located in Central London, walking distance from Soho, China Town and Picadilly Circus. The first floor sells tea, homeware, books and other merchandises. In the second floor is the tea salon and a small museum with tea pots, samovars and tea cups.
The value for money is excellent, although everything is very pricey in London, I was very happy for the customer service and quality of the tea and food I have received from the staff, including the chef.
My understanding is that all three are Oolong tea. I chose Number 900. Lightly fermented with a generous aroma, this blue tea leaves from Thailand have been processed according to Chinese methods that give as a result a concentrated and lingering cup inflected with notes of toasted rice.
TWG has its own signature in every cutlery and tea cups. Very fine bone china.
Eggs Benedict: Toasted artisanal muffins topped with two poached free range eggs served with porcini hollandaise sauce infused in white truffle oil accompanied by a mesclun salad tossed in an 1837 Signature Tea infused vinaigrette.
Pastries are prepared by the Pastry Chef at TWG.
