La Scolca - Gavi dei Gavi, Cortese Grapes

Background: La Scolca is owned and managed by Georgio and Chiara Soldati, whose family names does not only represents the history of the Cortese grapes, but also the history of Italy itself. From Italian classic literature “Il piccolo mondo antico” Fogazzaro, the cousin of Chiara, Mario Soldati made the film of this classic Italian novel.

FWS: Chiara gave us the pleasure to taste three etiquettes; Labels: White (characteristics of Chablis); Black (Sauvignon blanc) and Soldati Brut Millesimato. We celebrated its centennial anniversary at Novikov Italian Restaurant in Mayfair. We had a 7 course menu with coffee. A table with gourmet food and wine connoisseurs, London bloggers, editors for Decanter, wine distributors, board of director and GM of Italian restaurants and bars in Central London had the honor to be present at Chiara’s celebration.
A brand from Piedmont, representing Gavi with its Cortese diamonds, that set foot into the fine wine industry and it is continuously growing. I invite you to discover La Scolca. You will have the opportunity to taste it at Vinitaly in April. Details on my last post.
